Kyrgyzstan, Through Local Eyes
Sip piala slowly in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Learn the nomadic culture and ancient traditions of the region through local eyes and hands.
Ride through high pastures, walk remote mountain passes, and sit beside quiet mountain lakes. Each journey moves at the pace the land and its history ask for.
We run a limited number of group departures each year, from early May through early October.
Groups are small, and each journey is guided by our professional local guides throughout.
Two routes are currently offered.
Journeys
The Cultural Tour covers the highlights of Kyrgyzstan — a week built for a deeper connection to the culture, food and people, and the best of the country in a short time.
The Nomad Way is a horse-trekking journey through the heart of the Tian Shan mountains, into Kyrgyzstan's most remote areas — a chance to experience the nomadic way of life and see the country as it truly is.
The founder of Piala Trails has been guiding and designing tailored tours across Kyrgyzstan since 2019.
Piala Trails is built around slow travel: deep, unhurried cultural and gastronomic experiences rather than a checklist of sights.
Along the way, we work with and support female-owned businesses across Kyrgyzstan, and make sure every traveller leaves with real answers — a genuine understanding of the country's history and ancient traditions, not just photographs of it.
